    Louis Flint: a dealer in old metals living in New Town Street, Luton. On 9 December the prisoner brought him 42 pounds of lead and asked him to buy it. The prisoner said he had bought it for 3 shillings. He gave the prisoner 4s 6d for it. The following Wednesday he sold the lead to Frederick Parrott, along with some more lead. PC Haynes came to him afterwards and he pointed out the prisoner to him. He had paid the prisoner 4s 4d in cash and 2d was spent. Frederick Parrott: son of James Parrott. On 11 December Louis Flint brought him lead which weighed 42 pounds. He gave him 6 shillings for it. James Parrott: on 11 December PC Haynes came to his house to enquire about some lead. He gave the lead up to Haynes. PC James Haynes: on 11 December he went to Louis Flint to enquire about some lead which had been lost from Messrs Pearmans old brewery yard. He had since shown the lead to Mr Charles Field and he identified it as Pearman’s property. The prisoner lodged at the White Hart public house and the old Brewery yard was behind it. He afterwards went to Louis Flint who pointed out the prisoner as the man he had bought the lead from. He took the prisoner into custody and asked where he had the lead from. He replied it was from a young man he did not know. Charles Field: he had been working at Messrs Pearman’s old brewery taking down lead pipes. On 11 December, PC Haynes showed him 4 pieces of lead pipe which he identified as the property of Messrs Pearman. The lead was worth 12s 9d. Statement of the accused: nothing to say.
