    This Indenture witnesseth that Thomas Boon a poor child born in and having a settlement in the Parish of Salford in the County of Bedford (who has no father and whose mother is deaf and dumb) by and with consent of the Reverend Edward Orlebar Smith vicar of the Parish of Salford aforesaid and of James Morris Churchwarden and Henry Sturges and William Juggins Overseers of the said parish (testified by their severally executing these presents) doth put himself apprentice to George Lane Sear of Fenny Stratford in the County of Buckingham, blacksmith to learn his art or trade and with him after the manner of an Apprentice to serve from this day until he the said Thomas Boon shall attain the age of twenty one years that is to say the Ninth day of May one thousand eight hundred and sixty nine during all which time the said Apprentice shall faithfully and diligently serve his said Master in all lawful concerns according to the best of his power skill and ability and behave himself towards his said Master and all his honestly orderly and obediently in all things . And the said George Lane Sear in consideration of the sum of Twenty Pounds sterling to be paid by the said Churchwarden and Overseers of the said Parish of Salford in manner following that is to say the sum of Ten Pounds on the execution of these presents and the sum of Ten Pounds when the said Apprenticeship shall have half expired which will be on the first day of August one thousand eight hundred and sixty six. The receipt of which first mentioned sum of Ten Pounds is hereby acknowledged (which said sum of Twenty Pounds is part of certain Charity moneys charged in lands in the parish of Brightwell by the Will of Dr Woodward and payable to the Vicar Churchwarden and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of Salford aforesaid for the binding out of Poor Children born in the Parish of Salford Apprentices). His Said Apprentice by the best means that he can shall and will teach and instruct the or cause to be taught or instructed in the art and business of a blacksmith and shall and will find for his said Apprentice good and sufficient meat drink clothes lodging washing medicine and all other necessaries during the said term. And at the expiration of the said term shall and will find and provide for his said Apprentice in addition to the clothing he may then have one new coat, one new waistcoat, one new pair of trousers and one new pair of shoes of the quality and description most usually worn by persons of that trade and of the class of life of the said Apprentice. And it is hereby declared and agreed by or between all the said parties of these presents that if the said Apprentice shall not be living or shall not continue in the service of the said George Lane Sear as such apprentice when the second moiety of the Premium shall become payable as hereinbefore mentioned that then that such second moiety shall not be paid and the said George Lane Sear shall not have any claim in respect thereof. And for the true performance of all the Covenants and Agreements aforesaid on the part of the said George Lane Sear he bindeth himself to the to the said Vicar Churchwarden and Overseers and their successors respectively by these presents. In Witness whereof the said parties to these presents have hereunto set their hands and seals the sixteenth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty three.
