    This Indenture made the Seventeenth day of October in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty five Between Henry Summerford of Salford in the County of Bedford, cordwainer of the forst part, John Tansley of Salford aforesaid labourer of the second part, Edward Orlebar Smith vicar of the Parish of Salford aforesaid and James morris Churchwarden and Richard Webb Thorogood and Elizabeth Goodman Overseers of the same parish of the third part George Tansleyt son of the said John Tansley of the fourth part and Henry Summerly of the parish of Aspley Guise in the same County cordwainer of the fifth part. Wheras by an Indenture dated the thirty first day of January last the said George Tansley (with the consent of his said father and of the said Vicar, Churchwardens and Overseers ) was bound an apprentice to the said Henry Summerford from the twenty Second Day of January the instant for the term of seven years or until the said Apprentice should attain the age of twenty one years. And whereas the said Henry Summerford having agreed to relinquish and give up all right title claim and demand of him the said Henry Summerford of in and for the future services of the said George Tansley as his apprentice for the remainder of the said term of seven years which he hath agreed to do upon the terms and conditions hereinafter mentioned. Now this Indenture witnesseth that the said Henry Summerford by and with the consent and approbation of the said John Tansley and George Tansley and of the said Vicar, Churchwardens and Overseers testified by their severally executing these presents and for divers good causes and consideration Him the said Henry Summerford hereunto moving Doth absolutelygive and set over and the said John Tansley and George Tansley by these presents by and with the consent of the said Vicar, Churchwardens and Overseers do and each of them Doth ratify and confirm unto the said Henry Summerley all such right title duty term of years to come and unexpired service and demand whatsoever which he the said Henry Summerford hath or might or ought to have in or to the said George Tansley by virtue of the said Indenture of Apprenticeship to the end and intent that the said George tansley may become and be an apprentice to the said Henry Sumerly for all the remainder of the said term mentioned in ths said recited Indenture of Apprenticeship and the said Henry Summerly in consideration of the sum of fourteen pounds of lawful money of Great Britain (being a proportion of certain Charity Monies charged on lands in the Parish of Brightwell by the will of Dr Woodward and payable to the Vicar, Churchwardens and Overseers of the Parish of Salford aforesaid for the binding out of poor children born in the Parish of Salford apprentices) the said Henry Summerley In manner after mentioned by the said Vicar, Churchwardens and Overseers (that is to say) the sum of Six Pounds on the execution of these presents and the sum of Eight Pounds on the Twenty Second day of January which will be in the Year of Our Lord One thousand eight hundred and Forty Eight the receipt of which sum of six pounds is hereby acknowledged and also in consideration of the service of the said george tansley to be done and performed for him the said Henry Summerley doth hereby agree to accept and take the said George Tansley as his apprentice in the trade or business of a cordwainer which he uses and carried on from the day of the date hereof during and until the expiration of seven years or until he the said apprentice shall attain the age of twenty one years and doth hereby covenant and agreed to find and provide for the said George Tansley good and sufficient meat, drink clothing, lodging, washing and all other necessaries. And at the Expiration of the said Term shall and will provide for his said Apprentice in addition to the clothing he may then have certain new articles of clothing which he may choose to the value of Three Pounds at the least. And the said John Tansley hereby covenants with the said Henry Summerley his executors and administrators that he the said George Tansley shall and will during all the said term well and truly serve the said Henry Summerley as an apprentice in the said trade or business of a cordwainer diligently attending to the business and concerns of his said Master doing no damage or injury to his said Master thereof but shall and will in all respects acquit and demean himself as an honest and faithful apprentice ought to do. And the said Henry Summerley for himself his executors and administrators hereby covenants with the said John Tansley that he the said Henry Summerley according to the best of his power skill and knowledge shall and will teach & instruct or cause to be taught and instructed the said George Tansley in the said trade or business of a cordwainer in all things incident or belonging thereto in such manner as the said Henry Summerley now or at any time hereafter during the said term shall use or practice the same. And it is hereby declared and agreed by or between all the said parties hereto that if the said Apprentice shall not be living or shall not be in the service of the said Henry Summerley or his permitted assigns at the time hereinbefore mentioned then for payment of the said sum of Eight Pounds then that such sum shall not be paid and the said Henry Summerley shall not have any claim in respect thereof. And for the true performance of all the Covenants and Agreements aforesaid the said George Tansley, John Tansley and Henry Summerley bindeth himself and themselves unto the other and others of them by these presents. In Witness whereof the said parties to these presents have hereunto set their hands the day and date first above written.
