All above were purchased by one Robert Wooton, Blunham, yeoman, deceased, from Gyles Alleyne of Hattfield Peverell, Essex, gentleman, by bargain and sale of 16 Elizabeth [1574], and defended from the said Robert Wooton unto Lawrence Wooton, his son. One moiety of above being defended from said Lawrence unto Margery Wooton, deceased, one of his daughters, late wife of said William Thickpenny (and mother of John), by which William Thickpenny holds lands for term of his life, and then they are to go to John. The other moiety went to Elizabeth Wooton, another daughter of Lawrence, now wife of Henry Tingey, St Mary's in Ely, Cambridgeshire, maltster, and were purchased by i) from said Henry by Bargain and Sale and fine and deed of covenant dated 26 May 1640. 3½ acres arable, ley and sward in common fields of Tempsford and Everton: - 1 acre, once land of John Gale, sometimes Thomas Feasant and before that of Henry Osborne; - 1 rood in Tempsford Field in Gallows Furlong, east William Adams, gentleman, west Elizabeth Cooper, widow; - ½ acre more in same field in Middle Sands furlong, south Lord of Tempsford, north one of Colleges in Oxford, east common road or highway; - 1 other rood lying in Everton Downe feilde on the Downe furlong, south George Rensham, Esq, north Thomas Sexten (late Richard Hynson) - 2 ½ acres arable in common fields of Everton and Tempsford (residue of said 3½ acres): -- 1 acre in Tempsford Field called Stubb Cross furlong, south Stubb Cross baulk, north William Tingey; -- 1 other acre lying in Everton Down furlong, west Pease furlong haydon, south Thomas Staploe, north Edward Hills, gentleman; -- ½ acre more on that furlong upon Everton Downe called the Middle Furlong being one furlong distant from the New Meadow, both sides Lord of Tempsford. Which said 2½ acres were part of full 1/4 part of 40 acres arable, once the ancient lands of William Barckecocke, deceased, and by his will of 3 April 1616 given to Agnes Banes, Katherine Tingey, Helena wife of Edward Gibbes otherwise Frymme, and Elizabeth Hearne, the 4 sisters and heiresses of said William Barckecocke, all which said 3½ acres in Everton and Tempsford were lately purchased by said William Thickpenny of above mentioned Henry Tingey by deed of 8 Dec [1636], which said fine is to be levied to use of John Thickpenny for life, and then to Elizabeth Sutton, and then to their children.
