- Scope and ContentThomas Price of Stagsden, toll collector - he lives at the toll gate at Stagsden and is the collector of tolls there. He saw Jones pass the gate this today (24 April) with a shovel which he suspected was stolen. When asked Jones said the shovel had been given to him. He went with Jones to the lime kiln and spoke to a man there who told him that the shovel belonged to Thomas Clifton. Thomas Clifton of Biddenham, labourer - the shovel produced it his, which he knows by his initials on it and by the corner being broken off. He left it at the lime kiln in Stagsden where he works when he went to dinner. Henry Jones of Stagsden - "I have nothing to say only that I took it under hunger".
