- Scope and ContentThe Visiting Justices have received a letter from the Chaplain of the prison, soliciting an increase in his stipend on account of the increased cost of living and the enhanced value of the items of household expenditure - they recommend that his stipend be raised from £200 to £250 per annum. Prison officers increase in pay: 2s 6d per week for the Chief Warder, 1s per week for the other male warders. Warders pay to be as follows: On appointment - 20s per week; after 1 year - 21s per week; after 2 years 23s per week; afetr 3 years 24s per week; after 5 years 26s per week; after 8 years28s per week; after 10 years 29s per week; after 12 years 30s per week; after 17 years 32s per week. 2s increase per week to the pay of the Matron and 1s 6d per week for the female warder, and 1s per week to the pay of the junior female warder.
