- Scope and ContentAt the last Quarter the Visiting Justices reported that they had taken James Manyweathers on trial as engineer - he has performed the duties satisfactorily and they now recommend he be regularly appointed. The first execution in the County under The Capital Punishment Amendment Act 1868 took place yesterday when judgement of death was executed within the walls of the prison on William Bull, who was found guilty of murder at the last Assizes.
