In consequence of the works not being entirely completed the exact cost cannot be stated; the Visiting Justices believe that it will be more than the estimated ost which was £1500 but that the difference will not be more than £100. The Surveyor has brought before them the subject of the drainage of the prison if the main sewer of the town of Bedford is lowered 18 inches from White Horse Street up to the prison an additional fall to the same extent will be gained. Have appointed James Bettles to be a warder in place of William Wheatley who has resigned. Gross cost of the maintenance of the prison £3916.6.4 3/4.
