  • Scope and Content
    Recites: that George Cobb, gentleman, being seised in fee of the Manors of Ooze, Langton and Parantines, Bedfordshire, and of several farms and lands in Sharnbrook, died in 1689 [actually 1694] intestate and without issue, leaving sisters Elizabeth, Mary, Anne and Rebecca, to whom the property descended as co-heirs; that Mary died without issue and her share descended to the three surviving sisters; that Elizabeth married Mr Watkins, who died leaving her without issue; that Rebecca married Doctor Joseph Godfrey, and her undivided part of the estate was settled upon the marriage; that the sisters afterwards agreed upon a partition of the estate. Covenant to levy a fine, 17 April 1700: (i) Elizabeth Watkins, Anne Cobb, Joseph Godfrey and his wife Rebecca (ii) Richard Turner of the Inner Temple, esquire (iii) Francis Brace of Bedford. To the use of Elizabeth that the fine was levied accordingly. Will of Elizabeth,19 October 1715, as recited in BS 1189.
