- Scope and ContentStephen Thornton. 39 prisoners. The prisoners who were affected with smallpox have all recovered but the Gaoler has to lament that one man of his own family is under the influence of it at present. The commuted sentences of the prisoners convicted at the last Assizes and now sentenced to be transported had arrived yesterday. The promised, judicious, liberal and handsome donation of a choice library of books by Charles James Metcalfe Esq, late High Sheriff for the COunty are now in the Visiting Justices Room, ready to be distributed and read by the prisoners at the discretion of the Chaplain who will resume his ordinary functions .
