- Scope and ContentRichard Barton: assistant to Mr John Flemons, a draper at Dunstable. On 8 October he saw the prisoner, George Clark, standing against his master’s shop door. He saw him take a woollen mantle from a hook on the door and walk away with it. He followed Clark and took the mantle from him. He gave the prisoner into the custody of PC Dale. The value of the mantle was 3s 6d. PC Charles Dale: he took the prisoner into custody and took possession of the mantle. The prisoner said he had taken the mantle. Statement of the accused: nothing to say.
