    Christopher Bennell fo Kempston, farmer (Quaker, affirmed) – on 21 May he lost 2 white sows. On 17 June he heard of them from PC Clark at Wollaston. He next day he went with Clark to Finedon where he saw one of them which he identified as his property. It had been bought by Mr Clapham, a farmer there from Mr Sykes of Rushden. The other sow has since been brought to him. The value of the two sows was £7. Thomas Clapham of Finedon, farmer – in June Christopher Bennell came to his house and identified a sow in his yard as one he had lost. He told Bennell he had bought the pig at Wellingborough Market on 25 May from Mr Sykes of Rushden for £3 10s. he has since sold the sow with a litter of pigs to Mr Miller of Burton for about £7 10s. Thomas Sykes of Rushden, horsedealer – about 28 or 29 May he sold a white sow to Mr Clapham. He bought it from his son John Sykes, who bought it for him. John Sykes of Rushden, dealer – on 26 May he bought a white sow from John Wykes of Irchester which his father took off his hands. He gave Wykes 35s and a watch which cost 15s for the sow. He did not know whether or not the sow was in pig. William Curtis of Kempston, labourer – he went with Mr Bennell to see the sow at Finedon. It was one he had lost about 20th May. John Wykes – has nothing to say.
