George O Fenwicke, Frederick H Neve, Philip Hunt, Thomas Barber, George P Livius, T C Higgins, John Leete, George Cardale. 52 prisoners. The Gaoler reported that he had received the statement of the commuted senetences of the capital convicts, viz: William Juffs, Ezekiel Wallace, John Odell, James Kendall, John Taylor, Edward Mastin, Joseph Wilmot, James Wilmot - to be transported for the term of their natural lives. John Vicars - to be once privately whipped and kept to hard labour in the Old House of Correction for six calendar months. The Gaoler reported that he had received an order to convey the first 8 of those capital convicts, together with William Clark (convicted of larceny and sentenced to 7 years transportation) on board the Justitia hulk. The wards were inspected. The justices observed with regret that young men, unable to find sureties on charges of bastardy and common assaults are confined with most notorious criminals charged with capital felonies. It is therefore ordered that the ward assigned to female debtors, which is seldom, if ever, occupied be immediately arranged for the reception of such prisoners. On all future commitments of such prisoners they be kept in any part of the gaol that can be appropriated to suchj purpose so as to prevent them from being contaminated by associating with notorious criminals. It was ordered that no prisoner, except debtors, be allowed to smoke tobacco.
