    Lease, 3 years for 20 shillings yearly, then 21 years for 'full recompense' by Christiana Barber to Henry Butler and to Sir John Butler, knight, and 2 capons yearly: (i) Henry Butler of Higham Gobion, esquire (ii) Christiana Barber of Lilley, Hertfordshire, widow of William Barber, deceased. All those closes called Little Higham or Todgooste (14 acres), part of the manor of Higham Gobion now in the occupation of Christiana Barber; all that meadow not yet enclosed called Merten's mede (10 acres). Recites that Henry Butler has gotten a lease of Higham Gobion from Sir John Butler, knight, and Lord of the Manor 'for many years yet to come' from the expiration of the lease of same from Sir John to William Barber, enrolled 12 Elizabeth [c1545]. Excepted and reserved to Henry Butler all woods and trees. Witness: Thomas Horton
