  • Scope and Content
    Appoints John Scrope Esq., of St.James, Westminster, Francis Fane Esq., of Middle Temple, and Henry Fane of St.James, Westminster, as executors. Executors to have £20 each. To son John and 3 daughters, Theodosia, Mary and Elizabeth, £2,000 each on reaching 22; if estate insufficient to make such payments, unsettled estate in Eaton Socon to be sold or mortgaged. To wife, Theodosia, use of all household goods, furniture, plate, jewels, coach, chariot, horses, and house and other buildings in Brook Srreet, St.George, Hanover Square, until death or re-marriage, then to trustees to sell and add money to personal estate. To trustees, all property in Eaton Socon in trust to mortgage to raise legacies, to pay wife £400 per annum from rents for maintenance and education of children until she dies or re-marries, and £120 per annum until death or remarriage after son Thomas reaches 22. All estate in trust for eldest son Thomas on reaching 22, subject to payment of above legacies. If Thomas dies, estate to go the son John and 3 daughters. Witnesses: R. Chandler, Henry Edmonds and Richard Hazard. Codicil (in bad condition) To wife Theodosia: £200 per annum from estate. To son Thomas, on reaching 22, lands at Eaton Socon not otherwise appropriated. On death or re-marriage of wife, son John and three daughters to have further £1,000 from estate each on reaching 22. £20 to be deducted from allowance paid to wife for maintenance and education of children for every £1,000 they receive. To wife, £40 per annum on all children reaching 22. Pictures, books and plate to be kept by trustees after death of wife fro use of eldest son Thomas. Witnesses: R.
