Annual Road Safety reports
Annual Report on Road Safety activities by the Bedfordshire Police's County Road Safety Officer. The report covers the whole of Bedfordshire excluding the Boroughs of Dunstable and Luton who had their own Road Safety Officers and is subdivided into sections dealing with the various educational and training activities undertaken during the year.
Scope and Content
Activities reported include:
* Visits to schools
* Publicity work at public events eg Bedfordshire Agricultural Show
* Training activities eg Cycling Proficiency Tests, Motor Cyclist of the Year Competition, the Tufty Club and the Bedfordshire Road Courtesy Rally
* School Crossing Patrols Service
* Promotional materials eg posters, window display, films and 'general propaganda'
The report contains a lot of statistical analysis of road accidents mostly set out in the Appendices as follows:
A Numbers of people injured and killed on the County roads, 1947-1963
B Area statistics by Borough, Rural and Urban Districts with a supplementary table for the M1 Motorway
C Comparative statistics by area and for the whole county for the years 1962/63
D Persons injured or killed classified by type and age of road user
E Comparative statistics of road casualties for the years 1957-1963
F Child casualties, including comparative statistics for the years 1949-1963, analyses by age and by calendar month
G Monthly Accident Totals throughout the calendar year
H Analysis of peak times for accidents
I Analysis of causes of accidents
J Analysis of the types of vehicles involved in accidents causing injury or death
