- Scope and ContentLady Elizabeth Scrope, widow of Lord Scrope of Upsall and Masham , was seized and by her charter 20 Mar 1514 granted it to Sir Henry Wyatt and to Lewis Pollarde, Thomas Piggott, Brian Plames, Richard Broke, Miles Jerrarde, Walter and John Pateshall, to the use of Lady Elizabeth Scroope for life, remainder to Sir John Cutte knight By the will of Sir John Cutt knight at Thaxsted, Essex, 3 April 1521, the feofees were to stand seized to use of John Cutte, son and heir of Sir John, in tail to Henry Cutte, the other son. On death of Sir John Cutte feofees seized to these uses until 4 February 1536, when John Cutte became seized of the manor by virtue of the Statute of Uses Jihn Cutte the son had issue sir John Cutt knight, now surviving, who on the death of his father was a royal ward, and who came of age 10 February 1547, and by his charter 6 February 1550 granted manor to Thomas Gravesende of London, gentleman and to Hugh Edwardes, citizen and mercer of London, who 27 February 1550 conveyed to Henry Avetson. A recovery was then suffered of the premises, and the recoverors on 16 June 1550 conveyed the manor to Henry Avetson
