Text reads: "Dear Mrs Colgate, just a PC to let you know I arrived home quite safe just after 1 o clock. We had a very tiring journey up the river, didn't get to London until 10 o clock as the tide was against us all the way. Again let me thank you all for the way you treated me. shall be writing again soon. Mr Manning".
