- Scope and ContentMary Bentley of Roxton, widow – on 2 March she missed 3 tins of sardines from her shop at Roxton. The 3 tins of sardines produced are her property. Last Thursday Mr Kennedy brought Frost in custody to her house. Frost said he had stolen the sardines and had done it so that he might be locked up. John Copping of St Neots (Hunts), police superintendent – about 5pm on 2 March he apprehended Frost at St Neots on a charge of begging. He found 3 sealed tin boxes marked “Sardines” in his possession. Frost said he bought them at an auction at a public house at St Albans, then later said he had won them at a raffle at St Albans. He handed the tins to PC Billington. William Frost – he will plead guilty to the charge.
