    Removal order for Elizabeth Smith, widow of John Smith and her four lawful children Susan aged 13 years, John aged 8 years, Isabella aged 4 years and Jane aged 2 years. Removed from St Marylebone, County of Middlesex to Goldington.Two copies. Settlement examination of Elizabeth Smith, of no.13 Ogle Mews, St Marylebone, widow: I am 38 years of age. I was married to my late husband John Smith in the parish church of St George Hanover Square in the Liberty of Westminster in the County of Middlesex 14th June 1830. He died 3rd December 1842 leaving lawful issue of our said marriage four children namely Susan aged 13 years, John aged 8 years, Isabella aged 4 years and Jane aged 2 years which children have not done any act to acquire a settlement. I am with my said four children actually chargeable to the said parish of St Marylebone and have been since 14th August last in receipt of weekly relief in money and food from the Board of Directors and Guardians of the Poor of the saidn parish of St marylebone. I have not to the best of my knowledge done any act to acquire a settlemet in my own right. My husband was a native of Scotland and to the best of my belief never did any act to acquire a settlement in England. Examination of James Denton of Goldington, labourer: I was married to Hannah Mayo in the parish church of Goldington in the County of Bedford about 43 years ago, the said Elizabeth Smith is the lawful issue of that marriage, she was born on Goldington Green in 1807. I am legally settled in the said parish of Goldington by having (while a single man) lived as a yearly hired servant to Mr Best of Putney Farm in the said parish of Goldington for one whole year as a farm servant namely from Michaelmas to Michaelmas at the wages of six guineas a year boarding and sleeping in his house the whole of the said year. I quitted the said yearly service at about the time of my said marriage and I have not to the best of my knowledge and belief done any act to acquire a subsequent settlement. Examination of James John Messer , Assistant Overseer of the Poor of St Marylebone: Elizabeth Smith having intruded and come into the said parish of St Marylebone not having acquired any legal settlement there on 14th day August last became actually chargeable to and is now in receipt of weekly relief in money and food supplied to her from out of the rates raised for the poor of the parish of St Marylebone.
