    "Dear Auntie, just a line to let you know that I arrived home quite safely last eveing at 9.45 after a long run and found all well and very pleased indeed with all the things you sent. June and Pauline thank you very much indeed for the grapes and chocolates. Rita is very busy maid hunting and mother has gone to Stanhed [?] this afternoon to play bridge. I am enclosing the two photos of your washland which I brough away in mistake. I thought perhaps you might like to have them. Well ---[?] thank you once again for having me needless to say I thoroughly enjoyed myself and hope to see you again soon also I hope by this time your eye is better Best love Gordon"
