Amercement viijd [8d] Amercement ijd [2d] Also they present that the prior of Newnham iiijd [4d] owes attendance and does not come. Therefore he is amerced. Richard Fyll ijd [2d] owes suit and does not come Therefore he is amerced. And that William Couper ijd [2d] made illegal recovery against the bailiff performing his office and that he should be distrained for rent in arrears. Constables John Warner and Henry Par[ker], sworn Constables there, present [that] all is well Election of Constable Henry Parker is leaving the office of Constable, in place of whom Robert Cooke was elected and sworn in. Tasters of ale, amercements xviijd [18d] John Warner and Henry Parker, sworn men there, present that John Rydy vjd [6d] constantly, John Sterlyng vjd [6d] constantly, and John Morbourne vjd [6d] constantly, have brewed and broken the assize. Therefore they are amerced. Election of Tasters John Warner and Henry Parker are leaving the office of Taster and in their place were elected John Flaundrys and Randolph Bawdewyn and they were sworn in. John Cooke Robert Cooke John Benet Robert Bawdewyn John Myton’ Robert Partryche John Bawdewyn Christopher Malton John Warner Henry Parker Hugo Garnet John Morboune The sworn men present that the aforesaid Tithing Men, Constables, and Tasters have presented well and faithfully and have concealed nothing . The Little Court Penalty pending The Homage presents that the barn in the holding of Nicholas Cruce has a ruined roof and it was ordered [annotated that] the said Nicholas should repair it before the next court under penalty of xld [40d] Fealty Christopher Malton came into the court and took from the Lord one Messuage and viij [8] acres of land lately in the tenure of Randolph Bawdewyn. To be held to himself and to his wife and one following and by each of them whichever lives longest. Rendering therefrom to the Lord viijs [8s] a year at the usual terms there and suit of court and they will repair and maintain the said Messuage at their own expense during the aforesaid terms and each of them will repair and maintain at their own expense excepting that the Lord will find for them timber, withies and laths as will be necessary for the repair of the said Messuage. Fealty Robert Bawdewyn came into the court and took from the lord one Messuage and x [10] acres of land lately held by Simon Usshere. To be held to himself, his wife and one following for the terms of their lives and by whichever of them lives longest. Rendering therefrom to the Lord xs [10s] a year at the usual terms there and suit of court. And they will repair and maintain the said Messuage and each of them will repair and maintain [it] at their own expense during the aforesaid terms except that the Lord will find for them timber, withies and laths as will be necessary for the aforesaid repairs. Deliveries of timber and underwood Allowance of viijs [8s] The bailiff was ordered that he should make delivery of half a rood of withies for the repair of the barn in the holding of Nicholas Cruce and the steward grants to the bailiff, John Yarwey, sufficient large timber, one rood of withies and viijs [8s] in money for making one new bakehouse within his holding.
