    Removal order for Elizabeth Barnes, widow, aged 56, from St Botolph without Bishopgate to Bletsoe. Bill for out relief paid to Elizabeth Barnes by St Botolph without Bishopgate 4s 6d. Examination of Elizabeth Barnes, widow, aged 56 years touching settlement she being chargeaable to the parish of St Botolph without Bishopgate in the City of London. Which said Elizabeth Barnes being duly sworn saith that she is the widow of the late Joseph Barnes to whom she was married at the parish church of Bletsoe in Bedfordhsire on the 16th October 1809 and who died on the 20th March 1841. She hath no means of ascertaining any legal evidence of her said last husbands settlement but hath every reason to believe it was in the said parish of Bletsoe. Examinant further saieth that previous to her said marriage and whilst she was single and without child or children her name then being Elizabeth Infield she was hired in the said parish of Bletsoe in the year 1806 by the Reverend William Fancourt, Rector of the said Parish of Bletsoe to serve him as a servant of all work by the year and Examinant accordingly forthwith went into the service of the said Rector of the said Parish and continued n the same about 3 years, boarding, lodging and sleeping in her said Masters residence in the parish of Bletsoe during the whole of her said period of service and receiving wages of £8 a year from her said Master. Examinant further saieth that with the exception of her marriage above mentioned she hath not done any act to gain a subsequent settlement to that derived from her servitude above stated and she hath become chargeable to and hath been relieved by the Parish of St Botolph without Bishopsgate.
