- Scope and Contentheciting: Lease and release of 25 and 26 September 1817 i) Thomas Woodridge, Bedford, surgeon, and wife Sarah Amy Louise Miller, Bedford, spinster (Sarah Amy And Louise being the 2 daughters and executrixes of John Miller, Bedford, deceased) William Wilshere, Hitchin, Hertfordshire (other devisee and executor named in above will) ii) The Reverend Jonathan Castleton Miller, Rector of Milton, Northamptonshire (eldest son of said John Miller) iii) said Thomas Woodridge, Sarah Amy and Louisa Miller iv) Richard Gutteridge, senior, Dunstable, gentleman reciting will of John Miller dated 6 February 1815 by which he devised to Sarah Amy and Louisa and to William Wilshere - real estate, freehold as well as copyhold including the Englands Close in Dunstable, and land at Caddington, Hertfordshire, which he had purchased of Mary Pearson and Thomas Gostleow, on trust to sell and dispose of them. Money arising to be added to his personal estate. After legacy had been given to his son, residue of money to be divided between said 2 daughters. He died in October 1815. will proved (pcc) by William Wilshere only now in consideration of £13,785, being the estimated value of the freehold property (i.e. £10,000 to Receiver of H M Exchequer on account of debts due from said John Miller, and £3785 residue paid to Sarah Amy Woodridge, Louisa Miller and William Wilshere, by iv) i) release to iv) - closes, formerly one close called Great Englands (Estimated 2 score acres but by recent measurement 67acres 13 poles) in Dunstable in occupation of iv) and then of Richard Gutteridge, his son North England's Lane West Watling Street - tithes of corn, grain and hay all purchased by John Miller, the father, from Joseph Harding covenant by Thomas Wooldridge and wife, to levy fine with covenants by i) to surrender copyhold property (£140 of total purchase of Caddington and £15 for copyhold property of Manor of Kensworth, and £60 being value of copyhold property of Manor of Houghton Regis). CONVEYANCE BY (1) to (2) for £800 ... piece of freehold land in Dunstable containing. 2 acres 10 poles bounded North by property of Richard Gutteridge; East partly by land of Richard Gutteridge partly by close secondly hereinafter described; on South by Dunstable Poor Land ; West by High Road or Watling Street ... other piece of ground in Dunstable Poor Land and partly by first piece of land both of which pieces of land were formaly part of property known as Great England and are now in the occupation of Thos Cook Gostelow 13 October 1858 endorsed with memorandum that by an indenture of conveyance dated 1 Jan 1884 made bet. Joseph Osborn (2) above, and William Sharman of Dunstable, butcher,a part of the within mentioned hereditaments sit. on the S side fronting Half Moon Lane and containing 4 acres 2 rods 30 poles were conveyed to William Sherman, and Joseph Osborn covenanted to produce this documents
