Therefore they are amerced. And that the Prior of Newnham iiijd [4d] holds from the lord a certain wall to repair, between the vicarage and the lord’s holding, which is decayed near his tenement, therefore he is amerced. And he was ordered to put it right the feast of St. Michael the archangel next in the future [September 29th 1449], under a penalty of xxs [20s]. And that Robert Rydere has a malt kiln burned by being swallowed by fire and nothing has been put in the attachments for making the repairs of the aforesaid. He does not have a pledge to support [his] wish. Therefore it was adjourned until the lord’s Council arrived. Strays iiijd [4d] And a certain white ewe, valued at iiijd [4d], came as a stray for a day and a year and a proclamation was made and it remained in the keeping of John Flaundre therefore he was answerable therefrom to the lord. And that John Grenefeld iiijd [4d] illegally took one horse from the bailiff which rightly should have been the lord’s. Therefore he is at mercy to the lord. Amercement vjd [6d], amercement xijd [12d] John Cook and John Myton, the tasters of ale there, present that John Stoughton vjd [6d] brewed constantly and broke the assize of ale, therefore he is amerced. And that John Grene iiijd [4d] constantly, John Waryner ijd [2d], John Rodland iiijd [4d] three times, Agnes Partrych ijd [2d] brewed once and broke the assize. Therefore they are amerced. Proceedings of the court Amercement ijd [2d] The homage present that one messuage lately held by John Clerk remains in the hand of the lord because of no tenant, and is in ruins. And that one messuage lately held by John Joye remains in the hand of the lord because of no tenant, and is in ruins. And that one messuage in the holding of John Clerk the younger is in ruins and the tenant that handed it over to the bailiff has not repaired it. And that John Grene ijd [2d] has a ruined house and has not done sufficient repairs. Therefore he is in mercy. And that Agnes Partrych has repaired hers. And that one messuage lately in the holding of John Redy remains in the hand of the lord and is in ruins. And that one messuage formerly held by David Whyrchyrch is in the hand of the lord and is ruined. And that Thomas Wyltshyre has not repaired the holding called Trykats. And on this the aforesaid Thomas Wyltshyre came and granted it to William Launcelyn for a certain sum of money for repairing it because he made his withdrawal, and that the aforesaid William would be answerable for the aforesaid repairs. Therefore the aforesaid William Launcelyn was charged with the aforesaid repairs. And therefore the aforesaid William Launcelyn was ordered to make the repairs of the aforesaid tenement, lately held by the aforesaid Thomas Wyltshyre before the next, and if not the aforesaid tenement will remain in the hand of the lord because of no repairs and no tenants.
