    Welyngton View of Frankpledge with court of John Mowbray earl of Nottingham and Marshall of England held there on the Thursday next after the feast of Saint Luke the Evangelist [18th October] in the first year of the reign of Henry the sixth after the conquest. And that the Prior of Newnham [annotated, a day], John Frelove ijd [2d], andAdam Warde ijd [2d] made default. Therefore they are amerced. Stray one draught horse, valued at vjd [6d] amercements vd [5d] penalty Also they present that one draught horse valued at vjd [6d] was taken into the lord’s liberty about the feast of St. Martin [11th November] in the ninth year of Henry V, as a stray. And it remains in the keeping of John Goffe, the one answerable to the lord. And that John Goffe ijd [2d] [annotated, mended] has one ditch below his holding, that [is] Storgys, which floods causing a nuisance. Therefore he is amerced. And he is ordered to put it right before the next [court] under a penalty of vjd [6d]. And that John Usshere iijd [3d] the miller took excess toll against the statute. Therefore he is amerced. Amerced ijd [2d] a day John Gostwyk ijd [2d] accepts that Thomas his servant [annotated, pledged] is outside a tithing. Therefore he is amerced. And it was ordered to him that the said Thomas should take the oath before the next [court] and join a tithing. Penalty Also they present that John Bande the younger [annotated, put right] has one stable with all the roof ruined and defective. Therefore he was ordered to mend the said stable before the next [court] under a penalty of xijd.[12d] Constables John Bande and Robert Partrych the constables present that there is nothing to report this day and all is well. Tasters amercements xvd [15d] John Bande the younger and John Myton, ale tasters there, present that Robert Myton ijd [2d] j [1], Thomas Starlyng’ ijd [2d] j [1], William Wryght the elder ijd [2d] j [1], John Fesound ijd [2d] j [1], John Norman ijd [2d] j [1], John Bande the younger ijd [2d] j [1], and John Goffe iijd [3d] constantly, brewed and sold ale and broke the assize. Therefore they are amerced. Penalty should be incurred xviijd [18d] to the lord, xviijd [18d] to the church It was ordained by all the tenants that none shall graze beasts in a certain field called Fulwellefeld and the field sown with barley, nor in the meadows with others for one month after the feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Mary the Virgin [8th September] under a penalty of vjd [6d] paid to the lord and vjd [6d] to the church. And now it was reckoned by the lord’s tenants that Robert Myton, John Gaubryell and Walter Yarwey acted against this regulation. Therefore they have incurred the aforesaid penalty, that is to say, for each of them vjd [6d] to the lord and the church equally. Surrender, defective building, days, income xixd [19d], holding in the hand of the lord Richard Lygtfot who held from the lord one Messuage and half a virgate of land, which [was lately was held by] Paysys, by service and xiijs iiijd [13s 4d] came to this court and surrendered the aforesaid holding into the hand of the lord. After whose surrender nothing fell due to the lord as heriot from the said holding. The same Richard was charged that he should come to another court to be held by the lord’s tenants according to the Court roll. And the sworn men say that there is one [annotated, ruined and defective] Insethouse on the said holding, that is to say that the damage is unknown at present. Therefore they have a day until the next [court] to inquire and certify the holding. And the income from the meadows [annotated, illegible] of the aforesaid holding was valued in the preceding year at xixd [19d]. And the bailiff was answerable. And the said holding remained in the hand of the lord. And the twelve Sworn Men present that the tithing men, the constable and the tasters of ale presented well and faithfully and concealed nothing. Assessors of fines Robert Myton and John Gostwyk Sum xvjs ijd [16s 2d]. Therefrom in expenses of the steward and other visitors the same day, all included ijs jd [2s 1d].
