And that the Prior of Newnham [annotated, constantly] , Geoffrey Breton ijd [2d] , Geoffrey Aubrey ijd [2d], John ]Abell ijd [2d [sic] made default. Therefore they were amerced. Stray, one bullock a proclamation was ordered it remains Also they present that one bullock valued at ijs [2s] was taken into the lord’s liberty as a stray about the feast of Saint Martin in the eighth year of the current reign . And a proclamation was ordered and no-one came . And it remains in the keeping of the bailiff for which he is accountable etc.. Therefore they are amerced. And they were ordered that they should put right the said ditches before the next [court] under penalties of xijd [12d] for each. And that Richard Lyhtfot, iiijd [4d] has not mended his ditch below his plot as above, therefore he is amerced. And he is ordered to mend it before the next [court] under a penalty of xijd [12d]. Amercement iiijd [4d] And they present that John Usshere ijd [2d] , Miller of Willington Mill, took excessive toll against the statute. Therefore he is amerced. And that the same John, ijd [2d] took toll by a measure without a seal. Therefore he is amerced. Amercement vjd [6d] Richard Lygtfot who contradicts presentments, in presentments, by the tenants is amerced. Amercement xijd [12d] Also they present that Agnes, wife of John Abel is a common chatterbox and disturber of the peace within the same neighbourhood. Therefore she is amerced. And that [John written very faintly and the rest of the sentence left blank] Constables Amercements xiiijd [14d] John Bande the elder and Robert Partrych the constables present that Emma Fesound iijd [3d] unlawfully called the hue on John Grace by the pledge of the constables. And that John Abel vjd [6d] assaulted Thomas Starlyng against the peace of the lord king. Therefore he is amerced. And that Hugh Webbe ijd [2d] assaulted Richard Bawdewene and Agnes his wife against the peace of the lord King by the pledge of Richard Parker. And that Agnes wife of Richard Baudewene rightly called the hue on the said Hugh iijd [3d] by the pledge of the aforesaid. And that John Kempston viijd [8d] sold ale against the proclamation. Therefore he is amerced. By a writ Also the Tithing Men present that Richard Hende son of John Hende of Southmylne [South Mill] and William Denyas of Blounham [Blunham], son of John Denyas of Blunham the Butcher, came into the lord’s Warren and hunted game in the said Warren and have taken rabbits from the said Warren without permission. Therefore a writ will be put. Amercement vjd [6d] ordered to the tenants penalty Also it was presented that the tasters of ale ijd [2d] have not performed the duties of their office lately. Therefore they are amerced. And that Richard Lygtfot iiijd [4d] has prosecuted one writ of trespass against George Swon when correction should properly have been made in the lord’s Court. Therefore he was penalised. And it was ordered by the steward and commanded in full court that no tenants henceforth dare to do nor make a plea either in the court of the king, neither in a Special court, under a penalty of xxs [20s] [annotated, paid to the lord] as often as any against this ordered and commanded suit, without a special command granted by the lord or steward. Amercement iiijd [4d] defective buildings days penalties Also they present that John Fesound ijd [2d] has one ruined and defective grange. And John Yarwey ijd [2d] one ruined and defective bakhous ]bakehouse]. Therefore they are amerced. And that John Wodeward, William Wryght the younger, Joan Yarwey, Richard Baudewene and John Rydere [annotated, put right] have divers ruined and defective buildings for which they had days until the feast of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist next. And the days are present to well and adequately repair the said buildings as appeared in the next preceding Court under a penalty for each of them of xls [40s]. To be paid to the lord if they default on the repairs of the said buildings as appears more fully in the lord’s Court And because the said tenants are paupers and in the greatest penury of Money exists between them Therefore still each of them is given a day until the feast of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist next in the future by the grace of the steward under the penalty placed in the said Court Holding in the hand of the lord bailiff being answerable Also they present that John Rydere the younger, a born villein of the lord, who held one Messuage and half a virgate of land from the lord, for service and xiijs iiijd [13s 4d], according to the custom of the manor, closed his existence after the day of the last court and does not have any goods or chattels within the lord’s demesne, for the satisfaction of the lord as heriot. And so the said holding remains in the hand of the lord because of lack of a tenant. And it was ordered that the bailiff should be answerable to the lord for the income.
