Dry Close alias Six Acres Close in Clophill, formerly three closes, containing 6 acres (being the freehold close to be purchased by Thomas White), formerly in the occupation of Mary Howson, widow, afterwards of Thomas Costin, since of Michael Costin, and now of John Taylor, next a close heretofore of Ralph Compton and since of Thomas Beaumont west, and a close late of the Earl of Aylesbury and since of the Duke of Kent sometime in the occupation of Richard Read north, and a common lane leading to the Hill east. - Scope and ContentRecites: (A) that the freehold and copyhold estates of John Carter and John Mole and wife were lately mortgaged for £600, £300 of which was paid off out of the purchase money for a freehold close called Heath Close and a messuage and close holden of the Manor of Clophill with Cainhoe, lately sold and surrendered to use of Matthew Goodman; (B) that Thomas White has agreed for the absolute purchase of the said freehold close, and two copyhold closes holden of said manor, formerly one close called Broome Close and now called Dry Closes.
