Removal Order with suspension as Rebecca Hardwick unable to travel due to sickness and infirmity. Removal suspended as Rebecca Hardwick hath died 13 April 1844. Surgeon's certificate: I certify that John Hardwicks wife of Radwell was confined on the 9th November last and has ever since been labouring under the worst symptoms of consumption. Signed John Williamson, Sharnbrook, Beds 23rd January 1844. Examinations taken by Samuel Wing, Clerk of the Bedford Poor Law Union as to the settlement of John Hardwick, William aged 6 years and Maria aged 2 months, chargeable to the parish of Felmersham since 6th January 1844. Examination of John Hardwick, at present residing in the parish of Felmersham: I am about 26 years of age. On the 11th day of January 1831 I was bound apprentice by Indenture of that date which I now produce with the consent of the Trustees of the Bedford Charity to Thomas Foster Woodward of the parish of All Saints in the town of Huntingdonshire in the said County of Huntingdon, tailor to serve him from the date of the said Indenture for the full end and term of seven years. I served my said Master Thomas Foster Woodward under the said Indenture and resided and inhabited with him in the said parish of All Saints forty days and upwards, that is to say from the date of the said Indenture for a period of two years and a half when my said Master being short of work consented to my going to my Uncle Mr Isaac Wale, deceased, who was also a tailor, residing in St Paul, Bedford. My said Master Thomas Foster Woodward came and brought me away to work for him again at Huntingdon and from expiration thses eight or nine months I served my said Master under the said Indenture in the said parish of All Saints and resided and inhabited in that parish for the period of about a year and a half. At the expiration of this latter period my said Master Thomas Foster Woodward was again short of work and I left him and travelled in search of employment to various places on my own account from that time to the end of the term of my apprenticeship without the knowledge and consent of my said Master. Mr Martin Annerley, then Clerk to Messers Sweeting, solicitors, at Huntingdon was the only attesting witness to the Indenture and I have heard and believe that he died three years ago. The names 'Martin Annerly' thereto set and subscribed are of the handwriting of the said Mr Annerley. The Indenture was signed and sealed by my said master and myself as our several acts and deeds and the names John Hardwick thereto set and subscribed are of my own handwriting and the name Thomas Foster Woodward also set and subscribed are of the handwriting of my said Master. I was married in the parish church of St Paul, Bedford to my wife Rebecca on the 9th May 1841 by her maiden name of Rebecca Bithrey, spinster, by whom I have one child namely Maria aged about two months. My said wife at the time of our marriage had an illegitimate child named William aged six years who is now living with us as part of our family. I and my said wife and child and my said wifes illegitimate child are now actually chargeable to the parish of Felmersham in the County of Bedford and are the persons mentioned in the Certificate of Chargeability now produced. My said wife is ill and confined to her bed. Statement of relief given to family of John Hardwick belonging to Huntingdon by Felmersham £4.3.4 from James Smithson, Relieving Officer. Statement signed by Richard Cross, Clerk of the Guardians of Huntingdon Union that he had delivered copy of removal order to Dennis Berry, Overseer of the poor for All Saints, Huntingdon.
