- Scope and ContentSettlement Examination of Susannah Cole, presently in workhosue of St Pancras: She was never married. On 17th March 1837 she was delivered of a female bastard child which is called Emma. Examinant and her said child are chargeable to the said parish of St Pancras. About 15 years ago Examinant being unmarried and having no child or children was hired as a yearly servant into the service of the Earl of Ludlow at twelve guineas a year as housemaid. Examinant served the said Earl of Ludlow in that capacity at his residence at Cople Hall in the parish of Cople in the County of Bedford under such yearly hiring for about three years and lived and lodged in the house of her Master the said Earl of Ludlow at Cople hall aforesaid in the parish of Cople during such service which Examinant quitted about 12 years ago and hath gained no subsequent settlement.
