- Scope and ContentRemoval Order. Examination of Robert Castleman: on or about 11th March 1831 in the parish church of St Clement Danes in the Liberty of Westminster he was married to Sarah Bassett his present wife and hath by her the lawful issue of the said marriage six children namely Sarah aged 11 years, Robert aged 9 years, Mary aged 7 years, George aged 5 years, Harriet aged 3 years and Maria aged 18 months. Examinant and his wife and his said six children none of which said six children respectively have done any act to gain a settlement in their own right are chargeable to the said parish of Saint pancras. Examinant hath never done any act to gain a settlement in his own right. Examination of Lawrence Castleman of Clipstone Street, St Marylebone, County of Middlesex, dairyman: He is the elder brother of the aforesaid Robert Castleman now present. Lawrence Castleman the elder and Sarah his wife the parents of this examinant and the said Robert Castleman resided for many years (namely from the earliest period of this Examinant's recollection till their decease) in the parishof Ravensden in the County of Bedford and they always lived together as married persons. In or about the year 1801 the said Lawrence Castleman the elder, the father of this Examinant and of the said Robert Castleman went to settle upon a tenement which was of the yearly value of ten pounds and upwards consisting ofa dwelling house and premises together with certain land containing about 90 acres situated at Wood End in the parish of Ravensden in the County of Bedford which he held and occupied and resided thereon about twenty years namely from about 1801 till about the year 1821. He afterwards continued to reside in the said parish of Ravensden till his decease which happened about 6 years ago. The said Robert Castleman the brother of this Examinant was born at the Vicarage House in the said parish of Ravensden and is now about the age of 44 years and he resided at Wood End aforesiad in the said Parish of Ravensden in the County of Bedford as part of the family of the said Lawrence Castleman.
