    Removal Order. Bedford Union certificate of chargeability 20th April 1843. Request for Removal by Robert Cave, Overseer of St Peter. Examinaton of Hannah Hewitt: I am the widow of James Hewitt the younger who died on 15th April instant. I was married to him in the parish church of St Paul in this borough on 17th October 1831 by my maiden name of Hannah Mann, spinster. There are four children the issue of the marriage - William aged 10 years, Sarah aged 8 years James aged 3 years and Mary born 8th September last. Mu husband never did any act to my knowledge to gain a settlement in his own right. I and my said children are the persons mentioned in the certificate of chargeability produced by Mr Samuel Wing. Examination of James Hewitt: James Hewitt the late husband of Hannah Hewitt was my son by my wife Sarah formerly Sarah Gery, spinster, to whom I was married in the parish church of the parish of Eaton Socon aforesaid on 21st February 1806. My said wife was delivered of him at my house in the parish of Eaton Socon aforesaid on 9th November 1806. My said son never did any act to my knowledge to gain a settlement in his own right. I am a settled inhabitant of the parish of Eaton Socon aforesaid by birth and parentage and by virtue of an Estate in that parish. About Lady Day in the year 1808 I purchased a freehold estate in the parish of Eaton Socon aforesaid of Mr James Swepson, Baker, St Neots in the County of Huntingdon sonsisting of a house, bakehouse and orchard for the sum of three hundred pounds and paid the consideration money to mr Swepson and resided and inhabited in the said parish of Eaton Socon at the said house and premises so purchased upwards of forty days, from the time of completing my purchase until I sold the premises about 15 years ago. I have resided at Eaton Socon aforesiad since I was born and ever since I made the purchase to the present time.
