Students Grants and Loans (Form 503G)

This is a draft series of annual statistical returns summarising the amount of financial assistance received by Bedfordshire students attending Further Education courses, including colleges and universities. These were compiled by the Local Education Authority for the Ministry of Education: Including summaries of expenditure, numbers of recipients, and after 1950, qualifications obtained. With minor modifications in other years the form 503G was remodelled in 1950 and 1962 when it changed to a larger (A3) size. Until 1965 the returns were arranged by academic year; after 1966 they are arranged by calendar year. Occasionally correspondence between the authority and the Ministry of Education survive with the returns and this has been preserved when deemed significant (e.g. explaining changes in the methods used to compile the returns).
