including the decision by Diocese to attempt to acquire school (known as Independent Secondary Girls’ School and Independent Preparatory School) from Congregation of Daughters of the Holy Ghost and discussions with Bedfordshire County Council and Bedford Borough Council Education Departments and Department of Education and Science on the proposals for future of school (known as St.Bede’s VA RC Middle School following transfer) and correspondence and minutes of meetings arising from the process of transfer; also including the following: - discussion of RC provision in Bedford, Dunstable and Leighton Buzzard [1971]; - estimated pupil rolls for all Bedford schools 1972-1977; - analysis of Convent School pupils giving numbers originating in different areas; - projected figures for pupil numbers at Bedford RC schools, 1974-1979; - discussion of proposals regarding reorganisation of St.Gregory’s RC Secondary School, St.Joseph’s RC Junior School, Bedford, including opposition from interested parties at both schools [1973]; - Borough of Bedford report on reorganisation of RC VA schools in Bedford [1974]; - estimate of pupil numbers at St.Bede’s VA RC Middle School, Bedford 1974-1978; - estimate of pupil numbers in all Bedford RC middle and upper schools 1975-1981; - arrangements for 13+ RC pupils leading up to the opening of St.Thomas More VA RC Upper School, Bedford [1976]
