    Examination of Hannah Middleton: I am a singlewoman and am about 28 years of age. A few days before Old Michaelmas Day 1832 being an unmarried person not having any child or children I wa hired by Mr William Gee of Emberton, County of Buckingham, farmer, as a household servant to serve him from the said Old Michaelmas Day for a year at the wages of £5 and my board and lodging. Mr Gee when he hired me consented that I should go to visit my friends for two or three days which I did and from the xpiration of those two or three days remained in Mr Gees service in the parish of Emberton under that hiring until the time of his decease in the following month of June, and I served the remainder of the year for which I was so hired with his widow and I continued and abided during the whole period of a year in the parish of Emberton. Mrs Gee hired me for another year from the termination of my first year's service at the same wages and my board and lodging and I continued and abided in the said service under the second hiring for the period of a whole year. I have one child, Jane aged 4 years who is now maintained with me in the workhouse of the Bedford Union at the charge of the parish of St Paul. Two further copies of removal order and certificate stating Hannah Middleton and her daughter Jane were chargeable ti the parish of St paul and in the workhouse 8 October 1842.
