    Frances Luff , wife of John Luff of Eaton Socon, labourer – on 17 December she fetched home a pair of trousers, a waistcoat and scarf of her husband’s from Mr Cook, tailor of Eaton Socon. She put the clothes in her bedroom. From something her mother said to her on 19 December she looked for the clothes and missed them. Thody who is her brother was lodging with her mother. She was staying with her mother. She has not seen her brother since until now. The articles produced are those she missed. Thomas Rolls of St Paul Bedford, pawnbroker – he carries on his business at Queens Head Lane, St Paul, Bedford. Last Monday week 19 Decmeber Thody pledged the trousers, waistcoat and scarf with him. He gave them up to Police Sergeant Bedlow. He advanced 6s for them. William Bedlow of Eaton Socon, police sergeant – he received Thody from one of the warders of Newgate Gaol yesterday. He told Thody he would charge him with stealing the clothing from his brother-in-law John Luff. On the way to Bedford Thody told him that on Monday week last he took them from the house, went to Bedford and pawned them at Mr Rolls’ for 6s.
