Photographs of The Heath, Plantation Road, Leighton Buzzard, built for Francis Bassett in the 1860s and demolished c1985. (See 'The Bassetts: Leighton Buzzard's First Family' by M Brown and J Masters. 180 BAS pamp). The photographs, all uncaptioned and undated (but c.1890) were removed from the album for conservation reasons. All were photographed by the Photographic Unit (Neg: PU242/1990).

The photographs originally belonged to Mrs J Croxford nee Maltby, of South Africa, a great grand-daughter of Francis Bassett. Her grandmother Isabella Bassett married, in 1878, the Rev James C Maltby, Rector of Aspley Guise. In June 1985 Mrs Croxford gave the photographs to Mr D Humphriss, 130 The Drive, Benoni, 1501, South Africa, who passed them to Leighton Buzzard Library. On 6 March 1990 the library donated the photographs to the Record Office.
