Removal order and settlement examination for Sarah Parrell wife of William Parrell from St Peter, Bedford to Bolnhurst.

Examination of Sarah Parrell: At Michaelmas 1808 I let myself as a hired servant to Robert Francis Horne of Bolnhurst, farmer for a year at the wages of nine pounds nine shillings and continued in Mr Horne's service and resided in his house during the whole year. In or about the year 1809 I was married at the parish church of Bolnhurst to William Parrell who was also a hired servant with Mr Horne and who let himself to mr Horne for a year at Michaelmas 1807 and continued with him the whole of that year and the year following. He was in Mr Horne's service for the whole year for which I was hired. In October 1812 my husband enlisted into His majesty's First or Chatham Division of Royal Marines. After he left me I resided in Bedford three or four years and received relief from the Overseers of Bolnhurst during that period. Afterwards I resided in the parish of Lambeth, Surrey and the Overseers of Bolnhurst continued my relief whilst residing at Lambeth until about 12 years since. My husband is a superannuated Serjeant in the Royal Marines in receipt of a yearly pension of 19 pounds sixteen shillings. He has deserted me for several years and I am now actually chargeable to the parish of St Peter in the Borough of Bedford.
