- Scope and ContentExamination of Richard middleton at present residing in Eaton Socon. To the best of my belief i am 31 years of age and was born in the parish of Cardington in the County of Bedford and am the son of Thomas Middleton and Ann his wife. He is still living at Cardington but as I have been informed and believe had at the time of his birth and still has a legal settlement in Great Barford which he gained by hiring and service with the late Mr Benjamin Jefferies. On the 3 May 1836 I was married at the parish church of Eaton Socon in this County to Sarah Attwood who is now living and by whom I have one child viz Fanny aged 2 years. Up to the time of my marriage I lived with my father at Cardington and for several years previously whilst residing in Cardington received relief from the paish of Great Barford. He received regularly four shillings a week from the latter parish and I myself have frequently been relieved by the Overseers of Great Barford whilst residing at Eaton Socon. My wife is very ill and not able to be removed and I have done nothing to my knowledge to gain any other settlement. Order ssupended as Sarah Middleton too ill and infirm to travel.
