Examination of Sophia Hall formerly Sophia Bass, widow, touching the settlement of George Bass. She is the widow of Spencer Hall late of Raunds aforesaid, deceased to whom she was lawfully married in the month of April 1834. She was then living at Yeilden in Bedfordshire and about 10 weeks before her marriege she was delivered of an illegitimate male child in the said parish of Yielden, namely George Bass now upwards of seven years of age. She has done no act whatsoever whereby to gain a subsequent settlement for her said son George bass, and her said son George Bass is now actually chargeableto the parish of Raunds, having been maintained in the thrapston Union workhouse at the cost of the parish for the last fortnight.
