  • Scope and Content
    Examination of James Keep: He believes he was born in the parish of Wootton in the County of Bedford and that about 23 years ago he lived as a yearly hired servant there with Mr Hipwell, a farmer for one whole year and received the wages of £9 since which he believes he has done no act to acquire another settlement. He has been frequently relieved by the Officers of the parish of Wootton while residing out of it. He hath a wife named Mary to whom he was lawfully married at Wootton about 22 years ago and hath by her 6 children who have done no act to acquire settlements in their own rights and who are now residing with him as part of his family viz - Ann aged 19 years, Eliza 14 years, John 12 years, Frances 9 years, Thomas 7 years and Lavinia 2 years or thereabouts and they are all now actually chargeable to Islington. With a bill for shoes provided for the children by the Overseers of Islington addressed to the Overseers of Wootton. 3 copies of removal order.
