Walter Hale: he knew Alfred Warner and had a conversation with him in July. Warner said he would like some plait as he knew Spud (a nickname for Hopkins) was having some. Hale told him he could have some plait too and next day Warner collected a bundle from the warehouse. Warner had more a couple of days later and he arranged with hale for it to be sent to the Dog public house in future. He once sent a boy, who he told to go up Castle Street along Langley Street and he would meet a ginger man. Warner always paid the same price. Horne knew about Warner and would tell Hale what to dispose of. Warner’s wife also had plait, Warner paid for it and she came for it. (Cross examination) he believed he had about a dozen transactions with Warner between July and his arrest, Blaney was sent to Warner about 3 times. Joseph Blaney: Hale sent him to Warren 3 times. Samuel Brace: he apprehended the prisoner on 15 October. Warner denied having any plait. Statement of the accused: he reserved his defence.
