- Scope and Contentparties (i) Robert Linsdsell and Thomas McGrath as in Z824/18 as devisees in trust in the will of William Inskip the younger as in Z824/18. (ii) John Walker of Cheshunt (Herts.), bookseller and stationer, and his wife Mary, the only surviving sister and heir at law of William Inskip (iii) Elizabeth Inskip of Lower Caldecote, widow and relict of William Inskip (iv) Joshua Malden as in Z824/18 (v) George Inskip the elder of Ickwell in the parish of Northill, farmer (vi) George Inskip the younger of the same, farmer Recites that William Inskip was seised of divers lands at Lower Caldecote of which the land below are part and parcel; settlement as in Z824/18; will of William Inskip recited in Z824/19; that (i) in pursuance of the trusts of the will proceeded to sell all William Inskip’s realty, except the parts settled on his wife for life, by public auction on 21 Feb 1814 by a printed particular in several lots at which (v) was declared the highest bidder of lots 2, 3 and 6 for £2,805 free from all incumbrances except an annual sum of £5 payable to the poor of the parish of Northill; that the annuity created by Z824/18 having been otherwise amply secured, (iii) has agreed to take part in this deed to release and discharge the land sold from her annuity and otherwise quitclaim it from any claims and demands she might have on the same; to strengthen and confirm the title to the land, (ii) have agreed to take part. Witnesses conveyance by Lease and Release from (ii), at the request and direction of (i) and (v) , and Release and Surrender by (i) to the intent that the unexpired residue of the term of 500 years created by Z824/18 may merge and extinguish in the freehold, for a consideration of £2805 paid to (i) by (v), and quitclaim by (iii), to (v) of ; (a) messuage, cottage or tenement at Lower Caldecote on the W side of the Great North Road, formerly in the occupation of Thomas Woodward, labourer, afterwards of William Larman but late of John Smith and now of [ ] with the garden and orchard adjoining and belonging. (b) close or parcel of pasture land formerly part of a certain large field or close called Bryants Field but since divided therefrom and now commonly called Matts Close near adjoining (a) and containing 3a 10p (c) close or parcel of arable land called Jeffries Field containing 11a 32p bounded on the N, S and W by lands of (iv) and on the E by (d) (d) close or parcel of arable land called Bryants Field containing 8a 3r 30p (e) close or parcel of arable land called Innings containing 4a 3r 24p (f) parcel of meadow and pasture being part of Widow Hay Meadow containing 10a 37p ...all which land is in Lower Caldecote and together with (a) are late the estate of WI and part of the land in /17 described in that deed as /17(c)-(g) Habendum: to (v) to his heirs and assigns to declared uses involving power of appointment including a use to (vi) for the life of and in trust for (v), ultimate remainder to (v) in fee. Covenant to levy a fine on the premises (see Z824/21 below) Dorse: witnessing to sealing and delivery, receipt etc. by William Lindsell, clerk to Mr. Lindsell, H.Brown of Covington rectory (Hunts.), and Joseph Bigg, clerk to Mr. Lindsell.
