Commonplace book of 1937 Pte James Woodward, 2nd Northumberland Fusiliers. Separate inscriptions at front for 'H' company at Nowshera and 'C' company at Cherai, both East India. Contains poetry and satirical verses on military service, 'The Soldiers Catechism', and a version of the Lord's Prayer, addressed to the colonel of the regiment. At dorse Diary entry by Ernest Woodward. nd [c1890] Mother has received an offer of marriage from Mr Hulet [sic] but cannot forget his own father. Mother will be wise to accept as she has to work so hard now. 26 Sept 1899.
