  • Scope and Content
William Whitmore: he examined the footmarks and compared them with Webb's shoes. When they first examined the footmarks they looked to be made from odd shoes, and the right shoe appeared to have new tips at its heel and toe. The other had old tips and was a good deal worn at the toe steel. The footmarks in the close were quite distinct, and appeared to match Webb's shoes. The footmarks led right up to Webb's gate and went no further. The prisoner was a butcher and had such knives that the wounds in the pig appeared to have been made with.
