Lady Payne still lingers on, may die any day. Suffered most dreadful agony for many months from cancer, suffered less last two months - now quite tranquil. Not at all times in her senses from debility and "quantity of black drop [laudanum] she takes". Mentions linen and sending it Mrs Houresom, College House, Guernsey. Writer been confined to house for two months with gout. Mentions visit of Major Mcrea and family.
