    Frederick Fox of Toddington, saddler - Thomas Wilding was in his employ as a journeyman harness maker up to last Saturday night 10 June when he discharged him. On the 12 June he was informed by Joseph Hart of Toddington, beer retailer, that the prisoner had left a mane comb, an awl blade and a collar needle with him. He has no doubt that the articles now produced are his. Joseph Hart of Toddington, beer retailer - on 5 June Wilding came to his house in the afternoon and asked for a pint of beer on credit which he refused. Wilding then produced a mane comb, a collar needle and an awl blade which he offered to leave in his hands until he could get the money from his master in the evening. He let Wilding have the pint of beer. On Monday 12th he took the articles he received from Wilding to Mr Fox who identified them as his, He left them with Mr Fox. Samuel Hornal, police constable no.39 - on 11 June he found Wilding in the public street in a state of intoxication. He took Wilding to the cage and locked him up. He thoroughly searched him but did not find anything except an old handkerchief. On Wednesday 14th he apprehended Wilding at the Nags Head Public House at Chawson on the charge of stealing a mane comb, an awl blade and a collar needle belonging to Frederick Fox. Thomas Wilding - he has nothing to say.
