- Scope and ContentMary Farrer wife of John Farrer of Radwell, publican - on Monday 17 April about 5pm James Croft came into the house for beer. He stayed about half an hour, then he left and came back again. She saw two pairs of brass candlesticks belonging to her husband standing on the shelf in the kitchen where Croft was in the course of the day. About 10pm when she was shutting the house up one pair of them was gone. The candlesticks now produced are her husband's property and are what she missed. Whilst Croft was in the house she left the room to speak to another person. Croft was then alone and in her absence he left the house. The candlesticks are worth 2 shilling. Charlotte Burbage, wife of William Burbage of Chellington, labourer - on the morning of Tuesday 18th about 8.30am she found teh two candlesticks now produced with another pair of candlesticks lying against a stile on the road towards Harrold. She sent for Mr Joseph Hilton and he took them. Joseph Hilton of Chellington, publican - he took the candlesticks now produced with a pair belonging to himself from near a stile. Mrs Burbage told him she had found them. The stile was within 100 yards of his house. Joseph Neale, rural police constable - on the morning of 18th of April he received 2 pairs of brass candlesticks (now produced) from Joseph Hilton. James Craft, of Bozeat (Northants) - he had nothing to say.
