- Scope and ContentEllen Dillon wife of Patrick Dillon of Luton - yesterday afternoon she had a stall at Dunstable. Before she left the stall she counted the knives on it, and when she came back she found 3 missing. She told a person to look after the stall while she was gone. She said to the little boy Edward Maddocks who was in her service that there were 3 knives gone. He said he had not got them. She pulled them out of his pocket. She sent for a policeman. Maddocks had been in her service 3 weeks. John Tutte, policeman at Dunstable - Mrs Dillon sent for him to take Maddocks into custody. He cautioned Maddocks, who told him he put the 3 knives into his pocket because he thought a customer was coming and he thought he was going to serve the customer.
