- Scope and Contenthe bought the trowel from Charles Page at Leighton Buzzard about a fortnight before he came to Luton and worked for Robert Smith. The first place he worked was at Mr Seymour's on London Road, then at Mr Maldon's at Stopsley. When he was working there the trowel handle was loose and Richard Houghton got the point of a nail and knocked it into the handle to fasten it. He was then sent to Nether Crawley and was working with John Sear. He sold Sear the trowel for 18 pence.
